Winner of the 1995 Evening Standard Play of the Year Award, Pentecost begins, amid a war, in an abandoned Eastern-European church where an ancient fresco is discovered. When historians and clergyman enter the building to claim the work, they are held captive in the church by militants who wish to use the work of art as a bargaining device for their cause.
